The geographical scope of this problem is worldwide and concerns populations of all ages and ethnic backgrounds. Domestic Violence can be lethal. In 2017 the United Nations reported “500,000 women were killed worldwide” due to Domestic Violence (Domestic Violence Statistics: A Comprehensive Investigation, n.d.).

World Health Organization estimate 37% of women living in the poorest countries have reported experiences of physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence in their life. Some countries report 50%.  (World Health Organization, 2021).
